Abstract Reality and the future of food security in Iraq in light of the production and consumption of strategic crops. Food security is important today, the basics of running the economy and politics men alike, as an important pillar of national security as it relates to people's lives and health, as governments are responsible for providing food, either through local agricultural production or import of it. Iraq is one of the countries which suffered from a large space in the food gap for the most important commodity groups food, including grain, and in order to bridge this gap has been relying on imports from international markets and this of course, cost the budget of the country more financial independence and economic development. As well as on the food security will remain depends on fluctuations in international markets and is subject to the conditions imposed by the producers of food, unless the government is working to support the agricultural sector in order to increase agricultural productivity of cereal crops strategy, should be adopted advanced technology can adapt them local environmental conditions. الخلاصة يعد الأمن الغذائي اليوم من الأساسيات المهمة التي تشغل رجال الاقتصاد والسياسة على حد سواء، بوصفه الركيزة المهمة للأمن القومي لارتباطه بحياة الناس وصحتهم، فعلى الحكومات تقع مسؤولية توفير الغذاء سواء عن طريق الإنتاج الزراعي المحلي أو الاستيراد. والعراق واحد من البلدان الذي عانى من اتساع كبير في الفجوة الغذائية لأهم المجموعات السلعية الغذائية، ومنها الحبوب، وبهدف سد هذه الفجوة تم الاعتماد على الاستيراد من الأسواق العالمية وهذا بطبيعة الحال، كلف ميزانية البلد مزيدا من التبعية المالية والاقتصادية. فضلا عن أن الأمن الغذائي سيبقى رهين التقلبات في الأسواق الدولية وخاضع للشروط التي يفرضها منتجي الغذاء، مما يستدعي قيام الدولة بدعم القطاع الزراعي بهدف زيادة الإنتاجية الزراعية لاسيما لمحاصيل الحبوب الإستراتيجية، من خلال تبني تكنولوجيا متقدمة يمكن أقلمتها مع ظروف البيئة المحلية.
